It is a match made in heaven - United Way and Segway.
I met with Don Rich of Seg-Ville, the soon-to-be-open Segway store in Crozet. We are going to be teaming up to promote the United Way using Segways at events like our Day of Caring. So of course I had to do some market research and try one out myself. We met out in Old Trail by the golf clubhouse. After a brief orientation, we went off for a tour through the development.
You can't help but smile and wave at folks when you are riding a Segway because it is so fun and unique, and I found it easy to ride. After the first 5 minutes, you don't even think about what you have to do to go forward, stop or turn, you just do it. And people certainly pay attention to you when you are on one, which is why it will be so fun and effective to use during our campaign.
In honor of our partnership, Don is now the proud recipient of one of our Live United T-shirts, which signifies that the wearer Gives, Advocates and Volunteers to make their community a better place to live. We are going to have a lot of fun working with Don and Seg-Ville. Check it out for yourselves at www.seg-ville.com and look for the folks on Segways wearing Live United shirts in the future.
