Calling all interested United Way Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring teams! Now is the time to sign up and registration ends on June 28th this year! Don’t miss your opportunity to do some team building with colleagues, volunteer with friends, or participate in an outing with your community group. Take a minute to read through a testimonial below from Maggie Timmons at StellarOne Bank in Charlottesville about their continued participation in the United Way Day of Caring.
“For the first year ever, a StellarOne Bank team participated in the United Way Laurence E. Richardson Day of Caring in 2012. What an incredible experience! We had 10 employees on our team. Many of us don’t work together on a regular basis, so it was a great opportunity to get to know each other as we painted walls in the library, pulled weeds, pruned bushes, and spread mulch in the beautiful gardens at Scottsville Elementary School.
We all worked hard that day and left with huge smiles on our faces and a few sore muscles. The students sent us awesome Thank You cards and letters afterward.
We enjoyed our experience so much that we knew the weeds would be sprouting again and a group of us went back a few weeks ago and pulled weeds again. We have really connected with the school and particularly our contact there, Katie. We plan on “caring” for the school as much as we can with other projects and events and hope to have even more employees on our team this year!”
